Traditionally, chickens are reared in the household by allowing them to roam freely in the compound of their owners or within the court of houses not too far away from the compound. They wander about in search of food with or without their chicks behind them. Matured chickens know not to wander too far away in their foraging because they are naturally inclined not to go too far from home. At dusk they go back home to roost and to the place of rest provided for them by their owner.
Young chickens, especially solitary ones in seach of food and mates sometimes wander far away in the company of other young chickens scavenging for food. They soon get to the
central garbage dump where food debris are plentiful. So, the young chicken gets used to leaving its owner’s compound, wanders far away to the garbage dump in order to eat.
Now, there is a lot of risk involved in this for the chicken. It might get lost in its wanderings, and a lost chicken is as good as dead. It might be stolen by someone in a faraway neighborhood who may know that its owner does not live nearby. In each case it is a loss to the owner.
Therefore, the owner of the chicken would make effort to prevent the young bird from leaving his compound, and especially from going in the direction of the garbage dump. On the other hand, because the young “bird” is used to the “sumptous delicaciies” at the foot of the garbage heap, it will do all it can to surmount the baricades put in place by its owner. This is the point. The owner of the chicken sees death when he looks in the direction of the garbage heap – death that means loss of a growing and fledging bird. On the other hand the fledging bird sees food when it looks in that same direction.
In frustration at the difficult task of keeping his
bird in check the owner of the chicken says………

MORE
To their parents, young girls approaching puberty are like young chickens to their owners, only much more precious. Because they are naive, quite impressionable and vulnerable at such a tender age, parents of young girls would monitor and protect them to avoid being exposed to various risks, especially sexually related such as rape and pedophilia. Generally, good parents would do their best to prevent undue and premature exposure to sex in their children. . In order to do this parents would somewhat control the movement and conduct of their young girls. But it is not uncommon to find young girls who would resist this kind of guidance or curtailment. They may see their parents preventing them from being like other girls of today who ” hang out” with boys, go to parties or clubs and wear clothings revealing parts of their bodies that should be private. At the point of such a resistance a parent may say ……….. That saying would serve to emphasize the purpose of the curtailment, and the misconception of that purpose which the young girl may have.
