Birthday Reflections for Old Societe Bancaire Staff

[07:40, 16/03/2021] : Mr. Rosanwo is one of the coolest gentlemen on this planet. Steve Au used to call him RozambroπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ. We had a great time working together at ‘Operations’ in those days. His favorite breakfast was Moi moi and AkamuπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ. Maybe it still is. He doesn’t ever come on this platform to say hello! And I’m not happy about that. ☹ He’s either somewhere reading his Bible, or counting his money, or making sure all the accounts balance.πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ. Anyway, here’s wishing you a lovely and happy day. Enjoy🌺

[15:46, 17/03/2021] : Pat and I used to talk about how we could get Baba Adebayo Adekunle to sign vouchers quicker. The method he came up with was too funny, I can’t mention it. For the international operations, things had to move fast, so as not to miss the deadlines for CBN protocols. Baba supervised the entire operations – domestic and foreign as well as other functions. He had so much on his plate. The result was that files and vouchers piled up for a long while too many a time. Also, when he got down to things, he would check everything ‘ finifini’ to make sure to you have dot the Is and crossed the ts. All of that took time, and everyone who had a voucher or file on Baba’s table was accustomed to the waiting game, but not without the forlorn looks and desperation to get the stuff out. It was all for good, and to make sure things were done right. In that realization we abandoned the funny option.. We just prayed that Baba signed the papers on time. Alternatively we tried other signatories, but Baba was just very courteous and accomodating – the reason why everyone went to him. May God bless his soul. – Reflections from 1993 /1994.

[15:51, 27/03/2021] : Back in the day I was filled with pity for this man because at one time he had so much to chew. As a freshman from the youth corp camp he had to juggle the responsibilities of the company secretary, corporate affairs personnel, legal adviser and the oversight of the credit function from the legal perspective. That was just too much for one man, but I’m sure it paid off in thoroughness and confidence. Riddled with fatigue, but with unmistakable sense of humour he trudged along. I used to think I saw two angels around him. One on his left and one on his right. From then I knew he would survive. And he did. And if my memory serves me right, we weathered the storm of the regimes together right from the tail end of Dr. Siddiqui’s time, to Jean Pastouret’s, to Mr. Obalade’s. All those years of block building must have been something for this man who now waits for his S.A.N.🌺
